The Camp – While at Flatdogs

One of the great things about Flatdogs is that we are right on the border of the South Luangwa National Park and there are NO FENCES! So we always have game around camp. We are regularly visited by elephants, impala, puku, bushbuck, hippo and giraffe  and there is an abundance of bird life to hone your twitching skills.

So if between safaris relaxing by the pool, reading a book and watching the animal world go by is not enough you can arrange with us to visit community and conservation projects we support and visit some artisan workshops in the local area.

Village and Community Life

Flatdogs is heavily involved with the local life of Mfuwe village; we buy vegetables, use the shops, organise supply runs and of course, it’s where all our staff live. We’re more than happy to arrange an informal trip into the village to get a taste of local life and to see some of the community projects that we are working on. Ask us while you are here and we’ll make arrangements.

Bar

Our new airy open plan bar is the main meeting place for guests, with plenty of cold drinks and cocktails, comfy sofas and bar stools for serious conversations!

The Inside Bar, Gift Shop

Quiet place to relax, check out some reference books and have a look at a few interesting exhibits. The gift shop also has a range of Flatdogs clothing, curios, local crafts, books for sale and some essential toiletries.

Swimming Pool

To discourage guests from joining the crocodiles in the river in the heat of the day! Swimming is dependent on which large mammals may be using the pool as a watering hole… please wait your turn!

Communications and Internet Café

Flatdogs is connected to the outside world by radio phone and cell phone. Our contact numbers are +260 (0)216 246038 and +260 (0)977 485873.

For checking emails and other Internet access we have wi-fi access in the bar area. We charge by time so you can just buy a voucher and surf away.

Workshop

We have a fairly comprehensive workshop and trained mechanics to help reassemble your car if you’ve driven yourself in along the road from Chipata.

If the job is too big for Flatdogs we will endeavour to help you find a solution.

‘This camp runs on sunshine and happiness; it is just impossible to be unhappy when at Flatdogs.’ –Caz, Cambridge UK
