The Camp – Chalets
Our family chalet accommodation was extremely clean, comfortable and tastefully decked out, food was delicious, the pool was welcoming, bar offering varied, and wildlife was in abundance – with elephants napping outside our chalet on multiple occasions, giraffe sauntering past and monkeys marauding through. We took the opportunity of going on all possible game drives while we were there and the unusual hours we kept meant that the total flexibility of meal times was surprisingly handy.
Game drives were up there with the best I’ve done, the guides were extremely knowledgeable about the Park, all the wildlife and birdlife. – KMJUK, Reading, United Kingdom
Our Chalet rooms are made of stone and are designed to keep you cool. The six regular Chalet rooms are found in three separate buildings: each chalet building has a downstairs double room with en-suite bathroom and an upstairs twin/triple room with their own bathroom, just downstairs from the bedroom. The two rooms in each building are completely separate with their own facilities, but can be joined through the small kitchen area if a family or group of friends want to book both rooms. Both rooms have their own downstairs gauzed-in verandah sitting area.
We also have one larger family chalet; this building has 3 bedrooms in total, one twin en-suite, one double en-suite and an upstairs twin loft room. Both downstairs rooms have private ensuite bathrooms (shower, WC and basin) and have an extra bed to sleep 3 when required. The upstairs loft bedroom doubles as a sitting area, opening out on to a raised deck overlooking the river. The loft room has two more single beds but has no en-suite bathroom so people sleeping here would need to share the bathrooms downstairs. The deck’s a wonderful place to relax and watch the sun set over the river.
Each room has a fan and there are large mosquito nets surrounding the beds. We are on mains electricity and have a standby generator for emergencies.
“The ladies”, Jessie, Ellyzed, Caroline, Maggie, Zambulina and Judy, clean the rooms each day and will put your mosquito net down in the late afternoon while you’re on a night drive. For those who are keen to cook for themselves, each chalet’s kitchenette is fitted with a hob/oven, microwave, kettle and fridge-freezer. Laundry is collected daily and returned usually within 24 hours.
